The extended height and vertical layout of the transducer gets the sensing unit positioned at the optimal height above the masthead to minimize updrafts and turbulence from the boat's mainsail and rigging.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe system also includes the Airmar DST800 through-hull transducer for depth, speed, log and water temperature functions. The EV1 is entirely self-calibrating and measures the movement of the boat with is 9-axis sensor system. With its built-in Evolution R4 software, the EV1 further refines the values for wind speed, wind direction, course over ground, speed over ground and cross track error by calculating out the detrimental effects of vessel yaw, pitch, roll and heel on these values. It also provides an ultra-stable heading source for other onboard electronics including autopilots, radar systems, chart plotters and instruments.
